My first one konked out after 6 or more years, and customer service was very considerate and offered a reduced cost replacement. I opted to buy a Bushnell that konked out in less than a month, and there was no customer service. I left it at the club house. At half the cost my new ULT-G is simple, easy to read, reliable and does everything a casual golfer needs.

This is my second season with it and close to 100 rounds. The only time I think a range finder would be better is if you play an unfamiliar course that doesn’t use colored pins/posts/pinsheets. Where it excels is blind shots. Also if you have cart path restrictions and take a couple clubs out to your ball, you don’t need to carry the rangefinder too. There are just so many instances that I prefer the watch. It’s accuracy is spot on. So much so that guys I play with often don’t bother to pull out their rangefinders. Front/middle/back is usually all I need. Greens usually slope to the fairway, and simple math can get me within a couple yards, erring on the short side. So far I haven’t noticed any decrease in battery life. I can for sure get two rounds out of it. I hardly ever play 36, so it usually gets charged after every round. It took a few times to get used to attaching the charger, getting the pins lined up, but was no problem after that. I have never worn a regular watch, so I was a little worried I wouldn’t like it. Didn’t take long to get used to it where it wasn’t a distraction. For $100 and a 30 day no questions guarantee this a no brainer.

The watch took a long time to find the golf course when I arrived at the course. The battery was down to 1/4 after one round! On the course it did a good job of following the course and giving distances….

  21. Michael Goscha (verified owner)

Had trouble getting set up and trouble getting ahold customer service to answer my questions. Now that I figured some of it and customer service finally called and helped some, I’m happy with the unit. Main thing I use it for is hole yardage and club distances. That part I give it a 5.

Follow up review of July 4th 2023. Still like watch but there is a glitch. When course is selected, then you go back to time, and leave it on time, the time will not advance. You have to go out then back in. Tec support was VERY responsive and tried to fix over the phone but no luck. They offered a replacement but it wasn’t worth the trouble. The GPS works fine. I’ll use it as is, but probably would not buy another one. As a side note, I also own the Tectectec rangefinder. It seems very accurate.

  23. Albert (verified owner)

Watch works great. Delivered on time in time frame specified on web site. Watch locates course when you get near. Very accurate to front, middle and rear of green. That is all that I need.

  24. Tom West (verified owner)

Purchased watch at an excellent price. Received it Saturday and played Sunday. It was easy to set up, worked great and I was totally surprised how accurate it was. Charger is a little difficult but not a major issue.
Unlike some of previous reviews, telling time was a couple clicks away.
Since I have only played one round I will either update this review or create another one later, if there are any issues that arise.

  25. Dallas Renfro (verified owner)

Great looking watch and extremely easy to operate. My favorite golf GPS watch!

  26. Rob Deery

The UTL-G watch works great and is easy to use. The only thing missing is the ability to check the time from the menu while you are playing golf. You can select exti the round, battery status, and change course. Add check time and it would be perfect.

    • Billy (store manager)

      Hi Rob,

Thank you for your review. We are happy to know that you like your ULT-G watch. Regarding your comment about the ability to check the time while playing, this feature is now made available on the new update. Please contact us at us@tectectec.com so we can provide you the instructions on how to update the watch’s firmware.

have used it 3 times and it works like it should right on and easy to use for the money youcant go wrong

  28. Barry

Better then my Bushnell watch. As accurate as my rangefinder. I believe it will last for at least 2 rounds.. The only problem is I cannot find out out to end the round.

  29. Tim Kaneshiro

I recently purchased the ULT-G golf watch and have used it twice. Accurate, easy to use, quick to find the course, large readout on the dial, lightweight. The only reason it didn’t get five stars was setting the time. After charging it the first time I attempted numerous times via GPS and manual to set the time but it didn’t sync up nor keep up. Then I attached the charger then set the time and it took and now keeps the time. That bit of instruction probably should’ve been included in the booklet. But I’m glad I bought this watch. I used to use a SkyCaddie and it was decent but so far my ULT-G watch is better.

  30. Peter Charlton

I play 72 holes in one day on or around the Summer Solstice. This year was the 17th year for this fun! The Tec rangefinder watch I bought lasted all 4 rounds without a charge! Our tee times were 7:03am, 10;03am, 2:06pm and 6:09pm. I turned it on at 7am and it was still giving me yardages when we finished at 9:17 pm. The Tec watch took about 4 minutes for the satellite to find the course similar to my old Garmon! I had used a Garmon watch in the past and it never lasted more than two rounds, I would have used that watch again but the wrist band broke and you can’t get a replacement! I have a Callaway rangefinder that was given to me as a gift and the Tec watch accuracy was spot on with the Calloway rangefinder. The only reason I did not give this watch a 5 star rating is because the charging attachment is a little tricky to connect. Garmon had the same issue and they went to a magnet attachment that solved that issue for them. What I also love about the Tec watch is how easy it is to get the course yardage up when you arrive.
We played both the North and South courses and the Reserve Vineyards Golf Course In Aloha OR and the Tec watch was a breeze to switch courses. For the price and the performance you can’t beat the TEC watch. One last item they need a new name TecTecTec really? I have had a 40 career in advertising and marketing so that is a professional opinion!

  31. Gabriel (verified owner)

I was skeptical that as wrist watch would hinder the natural feel of my swing. I’ve owned 2 TecTecTec range finders *(one was replaced under warranty 2 years after purchase. TecTecTec truly has the BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE! That plus a great product is enough reason to purchase.) The ULT-G GPS Golf Watch is a must have for my round! I’ve turned several golf friends onto TecTecTec for laser rangefingers and the golf watch.
I do hope a firmware update could add check time with a menu option. The watch would be perfect then.

  32. Elmer LeRoy Barnes Jr

Bought the TecTecTec ULT-G GPS Golf watch a week ago and love it. I used it for the first time Friday, October 16, 2020. It was cloudy all day and raining off and on. I never lost the satellite the entire round. For the money this GPS golf watch is phenomenal. I had one question for support and they answered quickly. It automatically and quickly updates as you move around the course giving you accurate distances to the green, and also gives you accurate distances to all hazards, including carry distances by just pressing the select button. I learned how to use this watch in 5 minutes. I highly recommend this watch.

  33. DON FISHER

I like everything about the TECTECTEC golf watch. Only thing I’d like would be to be able to download the owners manual so I can read it on my computer and print it out LARGER, so I can read it with ease. At my old age, reading the manual that came with the watch is NOT easy. Do you have a PDF file I can download and print out in a larger size?

GREAT price and NO need to buy an annual membership like with some other GPS units. That’s a major plus in my book.

  34. Timothy W Jones

I’ve used your ULT-G GPS Watch for several weeks. I am impressed – it works fine and gives me accurate distances. Additionally, I had need to work out a “kink in the process”, and your customer service group was absolutely the most helpful of any customer service unit I’ve ever dealt with – EVER! My congratulations to TecTecTec!

  36. Ira McLain

I just got the watch and really like it. My only problem is that I cannot figure out how to turn it off. Can anyone help me ? Thanks.

    • Isabella (store manager)

      Hi Ira,

      Thank you for your review!

To turn off the watch, you just need to press the down arrow button for about 5-6 seconds until you see the “Power Off” message. To turn it back on, you just need to press and hold the same button.

Please let us know if you need further assistance.

      Thanks!

    Great Easy to Use GPS

I received my ULT-G three days ago and have used it for two rounds already. This is my third Golf range finder device and the easiest to use. It is simple, accurate, and quick to provide distances. I have a TecTecTec VPRO500 laser golf range finder that works great. I checked the distances shown on the Golf watch with the laser range finder and found the distances on the watch to be very accurate. I also use a Neo Ghost. I like the watch better than my Neo Ghost as I don’t have to fumble around in my pockets looking for the watch and the ULT-G golf watch provides readings faster. All three devices come up with the same distances. Due to its accuracy, speed, ease of use and ready availability on my wrist this range finder will become my go to golf range finding device.

  38. Thomas O. Wright

    This Company Delivers

The TecTecTec ULT-G GPS Watch is a great device. In addition to its accuracy , its ease of use is another plus. I have had the occasion to correspond with customer service ( Billy) and my entire experience was more satisfying than I would have expected from a young company . My issues were resolved and having that experience , I have also purchased their Rangefinder for my brother . He has a much more expensive GPS Watch. but prefers to use his new rangefinder and even borrows my watch , as well.
Overall my dealings with TecTecTec have been outstanding and I recommend their company and their products wholeheartedly.

  39. Fran

    Easy to use

I like that it is right on your wrist and can tell you the important details on distance

The ULT-G golf watch has great value, accurate and easy to use

Just used it this week. My 1st impressions are that the ULT-G watch is very easy to use — buttons are intuitive, accurate, excellent value. The only slightly negative comment was I found it a little tricky to get the pins all lined up to recharge it.

  41. Billy B.

    GREAT Golf GPS Watch

Great golf GPS watch, to this point. Easy, step-by-step instructions got the watch operational in just a few minutes. I’ve gotten to use it twice in 2 days now. Readouts are sharp and clear, even in the bright sunlight. It automatically loads golf courses near me and is incredibly precise regarding the distances. I have (another) GPS device AND a range finder, and all 3 devices were +/- 1 yard throughout the courses I played. The watch is comfortable to wear, less awkward to handle than the other devices (which i have dropped, lost, and left in carts or on the course), and seems to be very durable (I tend to overswing occasionally). I am EXTREMELY pleased with my purchase. Thanks TecTecTec.

  42. Marc N

Great Great Watch for the Money

I purchased this on a special promotion (I already have 3 other ones) so I could bring and leave in Florida for the winter months. It is somewhat a basic watch, with front., middle and back range as well as hazards. Already preloaded. I compared it to my other watches and used my rangefinder to compare. This watch is as accurate as my other two $300 golf watches, I compared it to other people watch and found this to be absolutely spot on. Very easy to operate and locks in quickly to the satellites. Definitely a great buy. And I find myself using it everyday now.

  43. J. Unbehend

    Great Value, Great Performance!

I had been using a competitor golf watch but the charger connection failed. I had purchased an optical rangefinder from TecTecTec 6 months ago so when the GPS Watch was offered I jumped on it. Has performed perfectly (accurate distances – even close to the pin). Design is a bit thick but would prefer that as it appears to be very rugged. Now problem with sweating around the watch band. Also easy to change courses and holes on each course. All-in-all, great product. Have worked with customer service in past and I am confident that TecTecTec will address any problems!

  44. Taz

    Great Value!

Works just as good as the overpriced ones!! Simple and easy to use. Accurate.

  45. Jason Gordienko

    So far so good

Played 9 holes using the watch for the first time today. Simple to use, seems to be accurate in comparison to my other golf app on my phone.
Only thing I dislike so far is it took a long time to find the course I was on. I played 2.5 holes before it finally linked up with the satellites. I’m playing 18 on Sunday and Monday. Will update after that.

I just bought the ULT-G, took it to my local course and pushed the satellite button. The “searching” window appeared, but nothing more happened. It never connected with the satellite, and after fifteen minutes or so I gave up.

Also I tried setting the Bluetooth to “On,” but it stayed “Off.”

Is this a defective watch, or is there a simple fix?

Hi WHW,

We’re here to assist you in resolving this issue promptly.

To address the problem, we recommend performing a quick reboot of your watch. Simply press and hold all 4 corner buttons simultaneously until you see either “BOOT” or “RESET” on the screen. Once you notice this, you can release the buttons. Your watch will then reboot, and you’ll be directed to the main screen displaying the default date and time of Jan 1, 12:00.

After the reboot, please attempt to connect your watch to the satellite and observe if any changes occur. It’s important to ensure that you are outside with a clear view of the sky during the satellite connection process.

Should you encounter further difficulties with your watch, please do not hesitate to contact us at 833-383-2669 or us@tectectec.com

Hi Tak,

You may try to update the golf course manually through the TecTecTec GPS app but in order to make any changes to any course we will need the following:

1. Course name and location, including street address, city, state, country, and zip code.
2. Most recent scorecard
3. Most recent course layout (with holes numbered) showing updated tee, green, and hazard locations.
Note: Labeled Satellite images are accepted
4. Detailed notes regarding any changes to the course, if applicable.

We also sent you an email. Kindly reply with the requested information so we can forward it to our mapping team.

Love my TecTecTec GPS watch. Finishing up my 2nd year with it. But I’ve run into some clearly wrong distances, and have found several holes that have multiple greens, but only one in the Tec software. I don’t know if the courses have made modifications. I cannot find how to get the free software update for course changes. Where is it on your website, and how do I download/sync it?

I had ULT-G for few years. I don’t have the serial number or manual to sign up for app login. Is there any way to sign up without a serial number? Also my watch takes way more than 60~90 seconds when searching for satellite. Also seems like it can’t connect to satellite inside the building.

Support
Billy
2 years 2 months ago

Hi John,

If you purchased the ULT-G from our website or our authorized distributor, you could reach out to our customer service team at us@tectectec.com with the proof of purchase and we will provide you with the serial number needed when you sign up. The TecTecTec app requires a serial number if you would like to make an update on the courses. If there are no changes on the course where you play, there’s no need to do the update.

Regarding your comment when searching for a satellite, that is normal. Based on our test, it would take 120 seconds to lock your position, depending on the weather condition and location. It will not connect or have a hard time connecting if you are inside the building, as the GPS antenna is designed to work on the golf course and not indoors.

Hi Bill,

I usually take about 60 seconds to 1.5 minutes depending on your location. You should not be walking or moving while searching for the GPS so it will connect to the satellite quickly.

You have to exit the round to get the time. Bit of a pain since you’ll have to rescan to get back to the course.
