The rangefinder can work in foggy weather however the reading is not guaranteed to be 100% accurate as the unit uses a laser and the laser could not work in fog or rain.

Can the slope feature be turned off on the 500s modei

Our rangefinder complies with the USGA Rule 14-3 because the player should not be penalized unless they use the slope measurement feature. In our slope capable rangefinder, we have four modes which are the Normal, Pin Seeker, Scan, and Slope Mode.
However, local rules may stipulate otherwise, and you have to check it with them to be sure that you are not violating local regulations.
Also please note that our slope rangefinders do not have a visible indicator that the slope mode is off so that could also be a factor that it is not allowed to be used in the tournament.

With my previous range finder, it was very difficult to get correct yardage. The VPRO500S is much easier to get the correct yardage. The pin seeker which allows to to scan across the pin which then gives you the closest vertical object. Now there is no doubt that I have the yardage to the pin and not something in the background.

So far I have had my VPRO500S for a couple weeks. I have played 3 rounds of golf and been to the driving range once. The first VPRO500S that I bought was great. It worked for about two weeks with no flaws. I began having problems picking up yardages to the flag from anything over 80 yards and further. I bought a new battery and installed it. That did not help. I tried different modes and that did not help. After a few more outings, I became frustrated and called TECTECTEC. The customer service lady (Isabella) was great at helping me try to get things resolved. She sent me instructions to return it. The new one had been used for 4 rounds now and has been outstanding. Same measurements as my friends more expensive Bushnell.

This is my second purchase from TecTecTec. I also have a VPRO500 that I purchased over a year ago. I became so addicted to it that I realized that if it quit working during a round of golf for any reason I would be lost. When I found that the VPRO500S was on sale I couldn’t resist. I have approx. 40 rounds of golf on the VPRO500 and I’m consistently amazed with the accuracy and the speed at which it reads distances. I’ve now used the VPRO500S a few rounds and I’m intrigued by the “slope” feature. It helps my club choice for elevated or down hill shots. I’ve also used the rangefinder at the driving range to observe the yardage I hit each club in my bag, especially my wedges. There’s nothing more rewarding than “sticking” the ball close to the pin from 50 to 100 yards out. So if you play on “hilly” terrain I recommend the VPRO500S. But if the courses you play are relatively level the VPRO500 will do just fine. They both have truly helped lower my golf scores. I have had my vpro500S now for a couple of years now and I am VERY happy with it. It delivers accurate readings to pins, hazards and target areas and has proven to be very durable. (I play about 100 rounds per year) I also purchased the silicone case and recommend that also as I’ve dropped my 500S a couple of times on the cart path and not only does the case protect the appearance of my 500S it has survived each accident with no damage. If you are wondering about battery life I basically get about 70 to 80 rounds on each battery. I’m planning on getting one for my wife so we can quit switching it from bag to bag for our league play. Would love to see a white (or pink or …..) case for the ladies.

Hi Sara, I’ve had several chances to use my vpro500s now both at the range and on the course, and w/ the exception of it not being super steady(especially in windy conditions), I have found the device to be very accurate and reliable, giving good, consistent measurements to pins as well as to other obstacles like trees and traps. The vpro is more accurate than the gps’s I’ve matched it up against. Just wish I could find batteries locally instead of having to order them, but small price to pay for accurate distance for my golf shots.

I recently purchased the VPRO500S with Pinslope Technology and it meets or exceeds all expectations. It is very easy to use and after a brief read through of the instruction manual I was using it on the course. I love the pinslop technology. It will take into consideration slope angle and compensate the yardage based on increase or decrease in elevation. I also enjoy being able to figure exact distance to pin vs. center of green. I feel that I was able to reduce my score by several strokes using the VPRO. It also gives you the confidence in making the right club selection for each shot. Another benefit is when I hit the range and they don’t have yardage markers for all the pins. I am able to use the VPRO to pinpoint yardage on each flag instead of guessing the yardage. This is an excellent rangefinder at any price but with the discounted pricing on these rangefinders it is a must have item to put in the bag. It will definately take strokes off your round and I just love the extra confidence of knowing the exact yardage on each shot.

I play on a really hilly course and I was looking for something to help me account for the distance when hitting uphill or downhill. My proshop carries GolfBuddy so I was about to get it but decided to research on Amazon. The VPro500S came up as an alternative to the GolfBuddy and it got really favorable reviews. Many of the reviewers found that it offered similar performance and accuracy as the high end Buschnell rangefinder. I decided to purchase the VPro500S because of the 30-day satisfaction guarantee and the 2 year warranty – I figured I had nothing to lose. I ordered online at the product website – initially, there was some sort of mixup and I had to ask for help to get the product shipped. Carissa was super helpful and made it a really great experience. I have used the product for a couple rounds and I’ve find that it really helps my short game – 75 yards and in. The precise yardage to the pin really helped me lower my score. Before, I always figured that I was close enough to go just on feel but I would often misjudge the distance. I use the VPro500S on the range a lot because we hit off of grass and they need to move the driving range stalls to let the grass grow back. Practice shots at from 75 yards in with 5 yard intervals. Then, when I am at the course I just use the VPro500S to dial up the correct distance and I simply recall the swing that I groove at the range. It took me a little while to know how to aim correctly so that the rangefinder would give the distance correctly. You can get incorrect distances if there are objects in front of or behind your intended target. Once I understood this better, I found the product really easy and fast to use. I highly recommend this product to anyone who is looking for additional ways to shave strokes off their score.

Love my new VPRO500s. Caught the $20 off sale b4 Sept 1. Ease of use, spot on yardages, within a yard of Bushnell and Nikon Cool 40i. Big, big value for the price, compared to those two. Impressed with the optics and ease of focus. I like the ergonomics of the buttons and eyepiece focus wheel. Best feature is the lighter pressure required on the buttons to get the readings I want without the unit shaking from a harder grip like I experienced with the Nikon. I prefer where, in the pinseeker mode, the “locked on” indicator is a flashing pin in the viewfinder rather than an irritating vibration of the unit like the Bushnell (reduces the costs and saves power, too). Easily saved 5 strokes a round, breaking 80 twice in the first five rounds with it, 81’s on two others and three birds the third time out (but nary a skin, dang it)! Great customer service offerings, Sara, but I wanted to wait until I got a few rounds under my belt to properly evaluate it. Couldn’t be happier with it.

I like the product! Had some issues with getting the correct yardage on certain holes! Also the battery died really fast after like two rounds! If anything I would like a new battery I have had a bushnell that has lasted 10 rounds! I wanted to try something new and right now it’s just ok!

Honestly, am very disappointed. It doesn’t give accurate yardage and has cost me several shots instead of the other way around. I’m giving it a chance but running out of patience with it. I’ve changed the setting and it’s still quite erratic. I seem to have a problem staying completely still and maybe that’s an issue but I feel it shouldn’t be that hard to use. I think I’ll probably try to get my money back.

I bought the vpro500 2 years ago and the accuracy was within 1 yd of a friends bushnell every time we checked. I put it in the wrong golf bag on the cart thought i had lost it, I felt naked without it and decided to replace it with the vpro500s. After I got the 500s, my playing partner found the lost vpro500 and returned it to me. The 2 gps’s would not measure the same distances, after checking and rechecking I purchased a new vpro500s and returned the first 500s with no problem and a quick correspondence from Sara assuring me of my satisfaction which, I will be as soon as my credit shows on my card. One does not get this kind of response from companies today. I am very impressed and satisfied with product and service and would recomend TecTecTec highly.

just received my rangefinder yesterday. Snuck out today to squeeze in nine holes and test. All I can say is WOW. Crystal clear optics, dead accurate, and the slope feature just shaved a whole lot of strokes off of my game, good solid construction, and the price is less than half of other manufacturers.
I could not be happier with the product and will be buying more as x-mas gifts this year. Keep up the great work and thank you for a great product at a reasonable price

Great product. Great company. The unit works well. I had a minor problem with unit and company immeditely repalced it. I would buy from them anytime. By the way, new unit is flawless. I used it today with a friend, he has the Leupold, almost 3 times the price. Distance matched on every hole. Great product, do not hesitate buying.

I ordered the VPRO500 Slope model last October and was very pleased with it after having figured out how to use each feature. In June of this year it started giving false readings. I appealed to Tec-support and wrote a review to which they responded with a replacement in the matter of days. I must say that I am very impressed with the customer service.
